Bagpipe Instruction - Heritage Pipes & Drums of Birmingham, Alabama is dedicated solely to the advancement of the art of piping and pipe band drumming. To that end, those interested in learning to play the bagpipes are encouraged to seek private instruction with our Pipe Major and Director Ryan Morrison, an award-winning soloist and the state's only fully professional ceremonial bagpiper. New students are taught privately throughout the week, allowing them to work at their own pace. Students that show promise will be invited to participate in band events and may even be asked to audition for the Grade 5 and Grade 4 competition bands. Lessons are $40 for one hour. Drumming Instruction - In addition to piping instruction, Heritage Pipes & Drums also offers instruction for snare drum and flourishing tenor drum. Under the direction of Drum Seargent Michael Paige of the Pensacola, Florida's Duncan McCall Pipe Band, and with the help of Pipe Major Ryan Morrison, HPD's snare drummers receive tuition from a Professional Grade, award-winning drumming instructor. Practice - Heritage Pipes & Drums practices most Saturday mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Spectators are more than welcome!
